Wolves Might Use Their Eyes to Talk to Each Other

It’s no secret that wolves, foxes, and dogs are highly social animals. Unique wolf eyes to talk to each other. In order for wolves to communicate to each other, their eyes and facial expressions need to be highly expressive. The majority of wolves have the same shade of yellow eyes, but a select few have striking, blue or green eyes. As is the case with humans, a unique pigment mutation can cause this trait. This could signal that they are more alphas amongst the pack or pack leaders themselves!

During silver wolf breeding season, wolves eyes can turn to a yellow-green color. However, wolves have the largest colored retinas which are the only part of their body where they express color pigment.
